Thomas Hawk has taken the bait and is posting something about Microsoft’s “StartSomethingPC.com.” Could it be a remixed eBook/PC/MiniTablet PC, perhaps? Daily Wireless has the details. The whole thing could be tied to the WinHEC. Microsoft apparently is putting together an innovative hardware section at WinHEC and this will be for press targeting the consumers. In addition, Microsoft has publicly stated that they will be launching the X64 OS sometime in April 2005. So there is an outside chance that could be Start Something! Or it could just be a PR stunt to generate buzz around the much delayed Longhorn. They need to do something since they are being upstaged by Tiger OS-X.
PR stunt to make old windows look new.
There is a partnership between MS and the IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America). At the MidWest regional IDSA conference we were shown a teaser video and given free (horribly wrong sized XXL!) promo shirts. The date Apr 25 is on the shirt.
They tried to be all mysterious about it, but i think they failed to intrigue all of us. Apathy trumped interest.
