Jason Voigt, a reader posted his comments in response to my Salon op-ed. He posed the question “But I wish you had gone further in characterizing the nature of any potential emergent gospel: what’s needed and what’s not.” I looked around for answers, and yes I have been thinking about it, but no at this moment I don’t have many answers. And neither do others, so I don’t feel quite as dumb. Look at all the comments on Always-On and you get a feeling: well its 1999. My early POV is that we have entered an era where is technology is about making incremental improvements and making existing products better, and better. There will be opportunities where folks who can cash in on commodity components and build cheaper and better mousetraps.
