I can almost hear all the girls going, awwww! BBC is reporting that literary heavyweight, Salman Rushdie, is writing a screenplay of one of his short stories, which is being adapted for a movie. Of course playing as the lead is Salman’s love interest, the sultry, sizzling and very lovely Padma. This is the first time Salman’s story has been turned into a movie. (Oh what is next, a show was the FUX Network, Mr. Rushdie!)
bq. …will write the screenplay for The Firebird’s Nest, while Bollywood film-maker Apoorva Lakhia will direct it. The story explores a romance between an older man and a younger woman. Lakshmi is almost 25 years younger than Bombay-born Rushdie, 56 – but Mr Lakhia says the tale, to be filmed in New York and India, is not about the couple.
Padma admittedly has been an on-screen disaster. She is a former model who at one time had a show on the Food Network and had a bit role in Mariah Carey’s 2001 megaflop Glitter. She alo had a minor role in utterly forgettable Bollywood action movie about supermodels, Boom.
