Rich Karlgaard thinks that there is a good chance the next US president could be a techie entrepreneur. He is punting on Mark Warner, the former Virginia governor and co-founder of the company that became Nextel. He also was the founder of Columbia Capital, a big investor in telecom companies. On the Republican side of things, Forbes publisher is betting that Mitt Romney, governor of Massachusetts, founder of Bain Capital, could be a serious contender. If that is the case, then I think uber-VC John Doerr of KPCB could be a viable candidate for California governor. Say what Mr. Doerr?

I’d be concerned that Warner would sell the country to a McCaw lead coalition of investors.
