I ran into JJ Allaire, Co-Founder of HomeSite and the man behind Windows Live Writer in San Francisco. He is the other Allaire – his brother Jeremy runs Brightcove, an online video start-up. JJ sold his company Onfolio to Microsoft, and that has become one of the major areas of focus for Microsoft.
Being an old timer, we talked about the good ole days of the Internet 1.0, and how I built, managed and operated DesiParty.com with HomeSite, an awesome product that resides somewhere in Adobe/Macromedia complex.
I mentioned to him, that Windows Live Writer is the only Microsoft product that I use on a regular basis. I run Parallels (in Coherence mode) and then Windows Live Writer, which I find is a great blogging tool.
He swore me to secrecy, and showed off some nice changes to WLW. No getting the Windows Live UI is not part of the deal, or the fact that you can edit WordPress pages, amongst other things. Anyway I would let JJ talk about it when the time is right!
Bring it on. WLW is a great tool. I want to be able to edit WordPress pages…. not just posts.
