It has been a horrible week – a persistent migraine that sapped all energy and a 100-hour week. And if that wasn’t enough, the management “role” prevented me from writing anything meaningful the whole week. The good news was that we had our first NewTeeVee Pier Screenings, which went off well, despite the cold. (Note to self: don’t forget the heat lamps.) Joey, Liz and rest of the NTV team did an awesome job. It was great to just be in the background and seeing their efforts come to fruition.
The big story of the week has been the launch of the Facebook Platform, which has dominated the headlines in the blogs and in the news media. This was a blessing in disguise. Liz has been our Facebook correspondent for sometime, and she did some serious coverage, and pointed out that role of Facebook was akin to that of a Social OS. The good news was that all this Facebook-hype allowed me to shirk from my writing responsibilities.
Facebook, clearly has dominated the headlines, and while chatting with Anne I complained about the Facebook overload, and wondered if I should do a piece that explains Facebook from the perspective of physical networks and Reed’s Law. And while I was doing that, I ended up doing another post, adding to the overall noise. Damn, sometimes, I can’t help myself.
And with all this drama in the foreground, we were transitioning to the WordPress.com, a fairly elaborate and time consuming process. There are some bugs – broken images for instance. We have had to remove the tags but, in the end security of WP infrastructure is a blessing. Our Polls aren’t going to work for some time, which is a bit of a bummer, but we are still trying to make those happen, and our hardworking tech team (of two) has promised to make it all work – soon.
This is a long weekend, and hopefully the headache goes away. Next week is looking to be another busy one, though I will get out of San Francisco and spend time at The D Conference down in SoCal, and also hang out with Andy – who will be flipping burgers for us. Oh, I can’t resist making a crack, but I won’t….
PS: When will real Yankees show up, and help me get rid of this damn headache – am blaming them for everything!
