A friend of mine shared this photos from the April 1935 issue of Science & Mechanics magazine. This e-reader was imagined 10 years after the microfilm was developed. It is amazing how far we have come since then.

This idea could have been implemented but, i prefer books than this. It’s way too complicated and it way too amazing to visioning at 1930’s.

And what was the base like, a post embedded in the floor? My folks had a few lamps of that general style, and I can’t imagine bolting anything to them that weighed more than a pound or two and be able to move it around safely with a handle that long… yeah, cool idea for the year my dad was born, but rotsa ruck mass-producing and selling it… 😉
