Future of San Francisco Bay Area

In a conversation with Connie Loizos, well known futurist Paul Saffo had this to say

Well, in the very long run, we’re going to have to have a national conversation about wealth redistribution. I’m not a Marxist but [Oxfam] just reported that the world’s 85 richest people own as much as half the world’s population. I’m a forecaster, and I know when something isn’t sustainable.

  1. Definitely looks like history repeating itself. While wealth concentration certainly has occurred, and will recur, there are pressures, both social and economic that may eventually cause a shift.

  2. I think it’s nice more people are finally saying this stuff out loud in the main stream. ty 4 sharing. maybe they won’t throw us in jail anymore.

In the long run, we’ll all be dead. I suppose nothing is sustainable in the long run. Even so, it doesn’t seem right for us to destroy our environment, or allow a handful of people to hoard all wealth.
