My American Life

A decade ago, I became an American citizen.

While years have flown by, what hasn’t changed is my joy of living in this country. Every single day, I am grateful for the privilege. Every day I appreciate the gift that is to be American.

In a British television show, The Hour’s protagonist, Freddie Lyon, said this about America: “Being nobody in a country where everybody thinks they can be somebody.” Of course, they do. It’s in the name: AmerICAN.

It is not that I have not forgotten my roots. Or that I have banished my heritage to the past. It is just that my present and future is one with my adopted homeland.

  1. My parents were immigrants. Your pride resonates with me and speaks volumes about you. Congratulations on your ten year anniversary.

    1. Thanks David. I really wish more Americans realize what a privilege it is to be part of this great nation.

    1. Thanks Martin.

It is the only country where you can become the richest guy on the planet by leveraging government subsidies and still shit on the same government.

People have to live in places where you don’t have that freedom to really appreciate the greatness of this nation.

  2. Congratulations! I’m first generation born here, my parents emigrated from Mexico to the US in 1965. I am so grateful they did.
