Nosocomial

My endocrinologist wanted me to go get some bloodwork done, just to make sure I am doing okay, my diabetes is under control, and if all my markers were in line. I popped over to UCSF to get the bloodwork done. I wore a mask and used sanitizer. You know the drill. And yet, a day later, a stuffy nose made an appearance, followed by a sore throat and a cough. This kind of winter cold is my kryptonite, and I can barely function for a few days. Not surprisingly, the week has been a wash, though I have had a lot of time to read everything about Google’s Gemini.

Apparently, there is a word for my condition and turn of events — nosocomial infection. ‘It is contracted because of an infection or toxin that exists in a certain location, such as a hospital,’ Wikipedia notes. I learned something new, so it hasn’t been a total waste of a week. Anyway, this is just a small personal update. I hope to be back on track next week.
