New York Times’ John Markoff apparently asked Steve Jobs about Mac TV.

That did not stop speculation that, with a minimum of modification, the Mac Mini would make a compelling interactive television set-top box … In an interview after his presentation, Mr. Jobs demurred. The problem, he suggested, was not that Mac TV was not a good idea, but that the cable companies are monopolies. But he did not close the door entirely.

Interesting – it could mean that he could let Mac Mini evolve into a home media server or perhaps come-out with a separate stand alone media server. I suspect Mac OS-X next, Tiger, which has H.264 support built in, one could see a stand alone device, in the same tiny Mac form factor. It could also mean a new Airport Express, perhaps!
