Every time we mention broadband penetration as a metric, a raging debate breaks out amongst our readers. Last week, when OCED data showed that US had slipped in broadband penetration rankings, similar discourse took place. While we all appreciate that broadband is crucial for global competitiveness, it might not be enough.
That is why, Economic Intelligence Unit’s e-Ready rankings provide a more comprehensive gauge of a country’s broadband and technological competitiveness.
The annual EIU report on e-readiness gauges how easy the net is to use in almost 70 nations…….Instead it was about what type of connections are available as well as government commitment to using the net and putting in place policies that make it worthwhile using it.
According to EIU, Denmark is most e-Ready followed by US, Sweden, Hong Kong, and Switzerland rounding out the top five.
