Merrill Lynch survey of CIO has interesting findings, at least as far as Sun Microsystems is concerned. (Scott, you should be spending more time in office, less at CTIA)
bq. BAD NEWS: Dell and IBM should gain server market share while HP and Sun lose, the continuation of a trend that has been documented in our Server Monitor.
bq. GOOD NEWS: Almost one-third of Sun users may buy Opteron-based servers. The bad news, however, is that most plan to run Linux rather than Solaris on Opteron, which reduces Sun’s ability to attach software. In addition, Unix is losing ground to Windows and Linux. We remain unconvinced of a turnaround at Sun.
On a positive spin front, this is welcome news for AMD, don’t you think?
