[qi:___3g] Updated: A tipster just pinged me to let us know that AT&T is having some real problems with its wireless network on the east coast of the United States. I have emailed the company. A company spokesman just emailed and let us know that that here was an issue earlier that had been resolved earlier, this afternoon. If you are one of those who has been impacted, let us know.
AT&T’s explanation of the outage doesn’t quite tell the story: “Due to an equipment issue earlier today, some AT&T wireless customers may have experienced difficulty making or receiving voice calls on their wireless devices in parts of New York City and in Northern New Jersey. AT&T technicians resolved the issue earlier this afternoon, and service is running normally. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.”
Update #2: AT&T let’s us know that the problems are continuing.
AT&T technicians are working to address an equipment issue that has resulted in intermittent delays for some customers in making or receiving voice calls on their wireless device in parts of New York City and in northern New Jersey. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. We apologize for any inconvenience to customers. Service was initially restored around 1 p.m. ET, but additional issues with the equipment occurred around 4 p.m. ET.
We are going to try and find out what really has happened. Stay tuned!
