Back in the go-go 1990s, signing deals for dark fiber was one way to quickly boost your revenues, and of course popularity with stock market types. Not so anymore. Level 3 is going to get nearly $100 million for calling off its dark-fiber deal with Mcleod USA, which is now more or less owned by Frostmann Little. Under the original 20-year agreement, McLeodUSA leased a nationwide dark fiber backbone from Level 3 comprising between eight and 36 fibers across most of Level 3’s North American network infrastructure.
now, figure out HOW you get 8 to 36 fibers BACK and then turn around an SELL the same 8 to 36 fibers to Comcast!!!
