Virgin Mobile which has made a nice little business out of reselling other people’s wireless services to teenagers in UK and US is now planning to go east. The company is in talks with the Tata Group (also owns VSNL and other sundry telecom businesses) to set up an MVNO in India, currently one of the fastest growing wireless markets in the world, with over 100 million subscribers. Times of India reports that service could launch as soon as April 2007. Tata has about 13 million subscribers.
Virgin Mobile is reported to be planning a joint venture with India’s second largest CDMA network operator, Tata Teleservices.
