Hampton Software, a UK-based small software developer has released Articulation, a SIP client that allows you to well make SIP/VoIP calls from your Treo, as long as they are running Palm OS 5. If you are using Treo 700p, don’t bother trying this software. Of course, there are other Palm models with built in WiFi connectivity and use Palm OS 5 that can use this software. (You can download it from here.) I am not sure, but is this the first VoIP application for the Palm platform? What is your experience with this application – let me know!
Update: Francine says that MinoWireless has been selling a Palm VoIP client for sometime now. It is a Java client that works with other devices as well including RIM and Symbian.
Nope. Not the first. Go to MinoWireless and you will see that they have had an application for Treo, Blackberry, and everything else since January. They are in 50 countries with 80,000 users. Paying users.
The Mino client does not seem to support SIP unless I am missing something. It looks like a proprietary client for their service.
That is true steve, though it is good for cheap calling. I am still waiting for a good solid VoIP client. I tried the Mino on an older treo – did not do much good for me. I will try Articulation sometime today – see how that works out.
Om, I reviewed a very powerful VoIP client for PalmOS a few months ago, named MobiVoIP.
